Mercer Island Summer Celebration 2026: What to Expect
Mark the date: Saturday, July 11, 2026. Mercer Island's Summer Celebration runs from 10 AM to 10 PM across Mercerdale Park and Luther Burbank Park — the single biggest community day of the year.
The community parade kicks things off at 10 AM, starting at SE 27th St. & 78th Ave SE and ending at 78th Ave SE & Mercerdale Park (staging at the Greta Hackett Outdoor Sculpture Gallery). Expect floats, school groups, classic cars, and local first-responders.
Throughout the day at Mercerdale: Touch-a-Truck, live music, kids' activities, vendor booths, and a rotating lineup of food trucks. The day closes with a fireworks show at 10 PM over Luther Burbank Park — best viewed from the park lawn or along the waterfront.
Local tips: arrive on the parade route by 9:30 AM to grab a curb spot, bring a low-back chair and sunscreen, and grab coffee from La Fête or Macrina on the way in. Parking fills fast — limited paid parking is available at the Community Center for $30; biking or walking is the move if you live nearby.
If you're considering a move to Mercer Island, this is the single best weekend to feel the community. Reach out if you'd like a personal walking tour of the neighborhoods that come alive during the event.
I'm always happy to share what I know about the island and the market.
