Mercer Island This Week: Farmers Market Rolls On, Mid-Autumn Festival Carnival on the Horizon (September 7–14, 2026)
Labor Day is behind us and the free Thursday-night concerts and Friday-night movies at Mercerdale Park have both wrapped for the season, but the calendar isn't done yet — the Farmers Market keeps its weekly rhythm going, and the island's next big community gathering now has a confirmed date. Here's what's on for September 7–14.
MERCER ISLAND FARMERS MARKET — Sunday, September 13, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM | 7700 SE 32nd Street
The market runs rain or shine through October 11, with certified organic produce, artisan food vendors, handcrafted goods, and a different live performer every week. With summer's evening events done for the year, Sunday mornings at the market are the easiest weekly way to catch up with neighbors before fall settles in.
LOOKING AHEAD — MID-AUTUMN FESTIVAL CARNIVAL — Sunday, September 20, 2026 | 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM | Mercer Island Community & Event Center, 8236 SE 24th Street
The Mercer Island Chinese Association (MICA), in partnership with the City of Mercer Island, is bringing back the Mid-Autumn Festival Carnival with live cultural performances — traditional dance, musical instruments, and kung fu demonstrations — plus family-friendly carnival games, specialty food and beverages, and a Community Resource Fair highlighting local Chinese-language and family services. It's free and open to the public; no tickets or RSVP needed.
Whether you're a longtime islander or just getting to know Mercer Island, this is a good stretch to enjoy the quieter early-fall calendar before the Mid-Autumn Festival brings the next big crowd out. Curious what it's like to live here year-round? I'm always happy to talk.
I'm always happy to share what I know about the island and the market.
