Mercer Island This Week: Ratatouille Closes Out Movies in the Park, Farmers Market Rolls On (August 24–31, 2026)
Both of the summer's free outdoor series are down to their final act — Movies in the Park closes out the season this Friday, and the Farmers Market keeps its Sunday rhythm going strong. Here's what's on for August 24–31.
MOVIES IN THE PARK: RATATOUILLE — Friday, August 28, 2026 | 7:15 PM (pre-movie activities from 6:15 PM) | Mercerdale Park | Free
The summer's outdoor movie series wraps up with Ratatouille on the giant inflatable screen at Mercerdale Park. Themed crafts and activities kick off an hour before showtime. Bring blankets, lawn chairs, and flashlights for the walk back to the car — admission is free, but the show is weather-dependent, so call (206) 275-7609 on questionable days to confirm it's still on.
MERCER ISLAND FARMERS MARKET — Sunday, August 30, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM | 7700 SE 32nd Street
The market runs rain or shine through October 11, with certified organic produce, artisan food vendors, handcrafted goods, and a different live performer every week. It's easy to assume the season winds down around Labor Day, but there are still six more Sundays on the calendar after this one.
LOOKING AHEAD — With Mostly Music in the Park and Movies in the Park both wrapped for the summer, the Farmers Market becomes the main weekly fixture through early fall, running every Sunday to October 11. Mark the calendar for Sunday, September 20, when the Mid-Autumn Festival returns to the island in partnership with the Mercer Island Chinese Association — details on time and location are expected from the City and Chamber of Commerce in the coming weeks, and we'll have them here as soon as they're posted.
Whether you're a longtime islander or just getting to know Mercer Island, this is a good week to catch the last of the summer series before fall events take over. Curious what it's like to live here year-round? I'm always happy to talk.
I'm always happy to share what I know about the island and the market.
