Mercer Island This Week: Diamond Star Halo Closes Out the Concert Series, Movies in the Park Returns (August 17–24, 2026)

The free Thursday concert series takes its final bow this week, but there's no shortage of things to do — a season-closing show at Mercerdale, the return of Movies in the Park on Saturday night, and the weekly Farmers Market on Sunday. Here's what's on for August 17–24.

MOSTLY MUSIC IN THE PARK: DIAMOND STAR HALO — Thursday, August 20, 2026 | 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM | Mercerdale Park | Free

Diamond Star Halo closes out the 2026 Mostly Music in the Park season with a set of '70s glam rock at the Mercerdale gazebo. It's the last free Thursday concert of the summer, so it's worth making the trip — bring a blanket, low-back chairs, and a picnic dinner. There's no outside alcohol, but food trucks are typically on site. No tickets, no RSVP, just show up.

MOVIES IN THE PARK: PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN — Saturday, August 22, 2026 | 8:30 PM | Mercerdale Park | Free

The outdoor movie series returns to the giant inflatable screen at Mercerdale Park with Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. Bring blankets, lawn chairs, and flashlights for the walk back to the car. Free admission; the show is weather-dependent, so keep an eye on the forecast.

MERCER ISLAND FARMERS MARKET — Sunday, August 23, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM | 7700 SE 32nd Street

The market runs rain or shine through October 11, with certified organic produce, artisan food vendors, handcrafted goods, and a different live performer every week.

LOOKING AHEAD — With the summer concert series wrapped, Movies in the Park is the main event through the end of the month: Ratatouille screens Friday, August 28 at 8:15 PM, also at Mercerdale Park. The Farmers Market keeps running every Sunday through October 11, and it's worth watching mercerisland.gov for early word on fall community events as the calendar turns toward September.
