Mercer Island Events: July 4th Picnic, Full Summer Concert Schedule & More
July is the month Mercer Island goes all-in on community. This week kicks off one of the most event-packed stretches of the summer — starting with a Fourth of July celebration, rolling into the island's biggest annual festival the following weekend, and then a full slate of free Thursday night concerts through August. Here's everything you need to know.
ALL-ISLAND FOURTH OF JULY PICNIC — Friday, July 4, 2026 | Mercerdale Park, 7700 SE 32nd Street
Mercer Island's community Fourth of July gathering returns to Mercerdale Park. The All-Island Picnic is a grassroots neighborhood celebration featuring kids' games, adult lawn games (cornhole, giant Jenga), guided nature walks through the nearby Native Plant Garden, and kids' story time — a classic community block-party vibe in the heart of Town Center. Note: Mercer Island banned consumer fireworks island-wide in 2024. For fireworks, the Summer Celebration professional show over Luther Burbank Park on July 11 is the island's signature display.
MERCER ISLAND FARMERS MARKET — Every Sunday, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM | Through October 11, 2026 | 7700 SE 32nd Street
The Farmers Market runs rain or shine every Sunday, with certified organic produce, artisan food vendors, handcrafted goods, and live music every week. July 5 is the first market back after the holiday weekend — a great way to start the week. The market features rotating performers spanning folk, jazz, swing, bluegrass, and blues. Check mifarmersmarket.org for the week-by-week music calendar.
MERCER ISLAND SUMMER CELEBRATION — Saturday, July 11, 2026 | 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM | Mercerdale Park & Luther Burbank Park
The island's biggest day of the year. The Community Parade kicks off at 10:00 AM (starting at SE 27th St. & 78th Ave SE — arrive by 9:30 AM for a curb spot). From 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Mercerdale Park: live music, a kids' circus zone, foam party, bubble stations, mini golf, Youth Theatre Northwest performances, food trucks, arts & crafts booths, and Touch-a-Truck. At 6:00 PM the party moves to Luther Burbank Park for more live music, stilt walkers, and food trucks, closing with the fireworks finale over the water at 10:00 PM. Bring a blanket and arrive early to claim your lawn spot. Biking or walking is strongly recommended — parking fills fast.
MOSTLY MUSIC IN THE PARK — Thursdays, 6:30–8:30 PM | Mercerdale Park | Free Admission
The full 2026 Mostly Music in the Park lineup is out — and it's a great one. Here's the complete schedule for Thursdays at Mercerdale Park:
July 16 — Harmony of Rock (classic early '70s rock). July 23 — 90's Rewind (the decade's biggest hits, tribute style). July 30 — Abbagraphs (ABBA tribute) + Pride in the Park Night. August 6 — Prom Date Mixtape ('80s new wave and synth-pop). August 13 — Mr. Pink ('90s and 2000s hits). August 20 — Diamond Star Halo ('70s glam rock). All shows are free and open to the public. Bring a blanket, low-back chairs, and a picnic dinner — no outside alcohol, but food trucks are typically on site.
SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK: MACBETH — Multiple Dates in July | 7:00 PM | Luther Burbank Park Amphitheatre, 2040 84th Ave SE | Free
Wooden O Productions returns to the Luther Burbank Park Amphitheatre with Shakespeare's most electrifying thriller — dark magic, ruthless ambition, and spectacular downfalls. July performances: July 9 (Opening Night), 10, 12, 17, 18, 19, 22, 29, and 30. No tickets required — seating is first-come, first-seated. Bring a picnic blanket, arrive a few minutes early to claim a good spot, and stay for the curtain call donation ask. A genuinely unforgettable summer evening.
IN A LANDSCAPE: MERCER ISLAND — Tuesday, July 21, 2026 | 6:00 PM | Luther Burbank Park
IN A LANDSCAPE is a nationally touring outdoor piano series. Pianist Hunter Noack brings a 9-foot Steinway grand piano to stunning natural settings across the country — and this stop at Luther Burbank Park is one of the most beautiful on the tour. Audience members listen via wireless headphones as the music floats through the waterfront trees. Tickets are required for the headphone experience; check inalandscape.org for availability. Bring a blanket or low-back chair.
MOVIES IN THE PARK: MOANA — Monday, July 28, 2026 | 9:15 PM (activities from 8:15 PM) | Mercerdale Park | Free
The City's outdoor movie series kicks off with a fan favorite — Moana on the giant inflatable screen at Mercerdale Park. Pre-movie activities and themed crafts start an hour before showtime. Bring blankets, lawn chairs, and flashlights. Free admission. Note: cancelled in inclement weather — call (206) 275-7609 to confirm on questionable days.
Whether you're a longtime resident or just starting to explore what life on Mercer Island looks like, this summer's calendar is a wonderful way to feel the community in action. Questions about the island — neighborhoods, schools, or what it's really like to live here? I'm always happy to talk.
I'm always happy to share what I know about the island and the market.
