The Best Coffee Shops on Mercer Island (2026 Edition)
Mercer Island's coffee scene has quietly leveled up. Here are the spots worth knowing — whether you're new to the island or just looking for a new Saturday morning ritual.
1. La Fête Pâtisserie — a true taste of France in the Town Center. Exquisite croissants, kouign-amann, and quiche pair with a well-pulled espresso. Open daily 7 AM–3 PM and almost always busy on weekends.
2. Macrina Bakery — the Seattle institution (since 1993) brought its artisan breads and pastries to Mercer Island. Seating for ~70 with outdoor tables, making it the de facto Saturday morning meeting spot.
3. Shawn's Cafe & Bakery — scratch-made everything. Fresh bagels, paninis, and warm croissants paired with consistently excellent coffee. A neighborhood favorite for eight-plus years.
4. Kitanda Espresso & Açaí — Brazilian-inspired coffee, pão de queijo, and açaí bowls. A great mid-morning stop if you want something a little different.
5. The J Cafe — tucked inside the Stroum Jewish Community Center. Expertly brewed coffee, smoothies, and pastries in a quiet setting. Weekdays 8:30 AM–5 PM.
6. Sano Cafe — "healthy mind and body" is the name and the ethos: clean, nutrition-forward menu with solid espresso to match.
